Our Innovation
Sabal Farm's journey of innovation since 2020 — pioneering sustainable urban agriculture models for Nepal's growing cities.
Building Tomorrow's Farm Today
Sabal Farm was built on a foundation of research, innovation, and a commitment to solving real problems in Nepal's urban food system. From rehabilitating degraded land to aligning with global sustainability goals, every decision we make is driven by a desire to do things better.
Our team spent six months researching, observing, and planning before building a model that could genuinely work for urban agriculture in Nepal. The result is a farm that produces more, wastes less, employs more inclusively, and teaches more effectively than any conventional farming approach.
Sabal Farm Innovations Since 2020
The key innovations that define Sabal Farm as Nepal's leading sustainable urban agriculture model.
Urban Proximity Farming
Located within Kathmandu city, dramatically reducing supply chain gaps and connecting people directly to local, fresh, chemical-free food.
Soil Rehabilitation
Revived severely degraded land using organic composting methods, turning infertile, chemically damaged soil into productive farmland.
Inclusive Employment
Hired women and people with disabilities, making farming genuinely inclusive and empowering marginalized groups in a meaningful way.
Compost Production
Produces 1,000 kg of organic compost monthly, promoting rooftop and urban gardening and turning farm waste into community wealth.
Educational Farm Visits
Opened the farm to schools, colleges, NGOs, and visitors — teaching sustainable agriculture hands-on and inspiring the next generation.
Tunnel Farming
Adopted tunnel farming for off-season crops using zero chemical inputs, enabling year-round vegetable production in Kathmandu's climate.
Diverse Livestock
Raised chickens, ducks, pigeons, and turkeys under safe and natural government-approved practices, maximizing value and biodiversity.
Research-Based Model
Built a sustainable urban farm model after six months of rigorous field research, studying failures in existing farms to avoid the same pitfalls.
SDG Alignment
Integrated all farm operations with 10+ UN Sustainable Development Goals for lasting social, economic, and environmental impact in Nepal.
